People who live at high elevations have adapted by having more efficient lungs, arteries that are bigger around, and red blood cells that carry more oxygen. Their hemoglobin is higher and the number of their red blood cells is higher than ours closer to sea level. At sea level , a measurement around 95% and above would be considered a normal blood oxygen level.
A typical reading should take 10-15 seconds after putting your finger in it.
Our pulse oximeters work off of blood circulating through your finger so if you are finding trouble with readings by warming your hands up under warm water, drying them and then testing you'll see better results.
